How I Fixed Black Bean Brownies
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8 baking pan with parchment paper.

  2. Add the black beans, soaked dates, plant milk, peanut butter, cocoa powder, flour, vanilla, maple syrup (if using), baking powder, and sea salt to a food processor.

  3. Process for 2 to 3 minutes, scraping down the sides as needed, until the mixture is completely smooth.

  4. Add the chocolate chips and pulse a few times just to combine. Save a small handful to sprinkle on top.

  5. Fold in the walnuts if using, or just put on the top if you prefer.

  6. Spread the batter evenly into the lined baking pan and top with the reserved chocolate chips, walnuts and flaky sea salt if desired.

  7. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes. Longer baking times tend to give a better texture.

  8. Let the brownies cool completely in the baking pan before removing.

  9. For the best texture, refrigerate overnight before slicing. They continue to settle, firm up, and get fudgier the longer they sit.
