Tisa's Calico Beans Recipe Card
  1. Preheat your oven to 350℉. Grab your cutting board and cutting knife and finely chop your onion and bell pepper. Grab your cast iron skillet and cook your bacon in its own grease until crispy. When bacon is done, remove and crumble into small pieces. Set aside.

  2. Grab your cast iron skillet and cook your bacon in its own grease until crispy.

  3. While your bacon is cooking, grab your 9x13 pan and add in all your beans, your ketchup, mustard, and brown sugar. Using a large spoon, mix everything together in your pan.

  4. Check back on your bacon. When bacon is done, remove and let cool on your cutting board. Crumble into small pieces once cool enough to touch.

  5. Using the same skillet, add in your ground beef. Let it cook in the bacon grease. When the meat is about half way browned, add in the diced onion and bell pepper. Mix together with the meat until meat is thoroughly cooked through. When done, drain any excess fat.

  6. Transfer your ground beef and vegetables into your bean pan and fold into the bean mix. Lastly, grab your crumbled bacon pieces and garnish across the top of your pan.

  7. Bake in the oven for about 45 minutes.

  8. Remove and let cool slightly before serving!
