  1. Cook whites of green onion and garlic

  2. Pour over dashi broth

  3. Combine hot pepper paste, hot pepper flakes, and sugar in a small bowl.

  4. Add the rice cake, the mixture in the bowl, and the optional fish cakes and hard boiled eggs.

  5. Stir gently with a wooden spoon when it starts to boil.

  6. Keep stirring until the rice cake turns soft and the sauce thickens and looks shiny, which should take about 5 minutes? may need more time to thicken.

  7. If the rice cake is not soft enough, add more water and continue stirring until soften.

  8. Remove from the heat and serve hot.
