Dip the rim of a martini or coupe glass in simple syrup, then firmly press the rim onto a small plate covered with sugar.
Place glass in the freezer to set.
Add vodka, fresh lemon juice, orange liqueur, and strawberry simple syrup to a cocktail shaker.
Add ice, then shake until chilled.
Strain into your glass prepped with a sugar rim.
Garnish with three fresh strawberries cut into the shape of hearts.
For strawberry syrup: Add sugar, strawberries, and water to a saucepan over medium heat.
Stir occasionally until sugar dissolves.
Once berries have softened, gently mash them to release their juices.
Reduce heat to low, and simmer for 5-10 minutes.
Remove from heat, and allow the syrup to cool completely before straining into an airtight container.
Store in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.
