Homemade CornTortillas
  1. Begin by cutting a plastic gallon bag on all sides, then use the two pieces of plastic to line your tortillas.

  2. Place a damp paper towel underneath the tortillas to keep them from moving while you press down.

  3. Combine 2 cups of maseca with 1.5 cups of warm water, following the package instructions, ensuring your hands are clean during this process.

  4. Preheat the Komalo on high heat while you mix the masa for about 5 minutes until it no longer sticks to your hands.

  5. Roll the masa into balls weighing approximately 50 grams each.

  6. Using your fingertips, shape each ball into a small disc and place it in the center of the press.

  7. Gently press down to form a round tortilla, then carefully peel off one side of the plastic.

  8. Check that the Komalo is heated to about 550 degrees Fahrenheit and place the tortilla on it.

  9. Cook for exactly 30 seconds before flipping the tortilla.

  10. After 30 seconds, flip the tortilla one last time and watch it puff up.
