Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
1 cup orzo pasta
1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
1 cup heavy cream
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Grated Parmesan cheese (for serving)
Directions:
Cook the Orzo: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the orzo according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Cook the Ground Beef: While the orzo cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the beef is browned and fully cooked. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove any excess fat from the skillet.
Sauté the Aromatics: Add the chopped onion to the skillet with the beef and cook for 3-4 minutes until the onion becomes soft. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 1 minute until fragrant.
Prepare the Sauce: Stir in the diced tomatoes (with juice) and Italian seasoning. Let it simmer for 5 minutes to combine the flavors. Pour in the heavy cream and stir to create a creamy sauce. Let it simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
Combine with Orzo: Add the cooked orzo to the skillet with the beef and tomato cream sauce. Stir until the orzo is evenly coated with the sauce. Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.
Serve: Serve the Ground Beef Orzo hot, topped with fresh parsley and grated Parmesan cheese for extra flavor.
