Dutch Oven Rolls
  1. Mix dry yeast in water, stir to dissolve.

  2. Add milk, butter, salt and sugar; stir well.

  3. Add flour in small amounts preserve ½ cups and mix thoroughly. The dough will be stiff.

  4. Sprinkle some of reserved flour on flat surface. Knead until dough is smooth.

  5. Place in greased bowl, cover and let rise until doubled (approx. 1 hour).

  6. Shape dough into smooth rolls and place in greased Dutch oven. Cover and let rise until double.

  7. When baking, you need about ⅓ of the coals on the bottom and ⅔ on the top of Dutch oven.

  8. Baking time is approximately 10 minutes on the fire and remove and cook and additional 10 minutes with coals on top only.
