Ooey Gooey Butter Bars
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease or line a 9x13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.

  2. Make the crust: In a medium bowl, combine the cake mix, melted butter, and 1 egg. Stir until a thick dough forms. Press evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.

  3. Prepare the filling: In a large mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla, mixing until fully incorporated. Slowly pour in melted butter, then beat in powdered sugar until creamy and thick.

  4. Assemble: Pour the filling mixture over the crust, spreading evenly.

  5. Bake: Place in the oven and bake for 40–45 minutes. The edges should be golden and set, but the center should remain slightly gooey. Do not overbake.

  6. Cool and serve: Let bars cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares. Dust with extra powdered sugar if desired.
