No Yeast Soda Bread Recipe
  1. Preheat oven to 200ºC (400°F).

  2. Combine flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt

  3. 'Cut' or 'Rub' the butter into the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt. You can do this by hand or in a food processor.

  4. Whisk the buttermilk and egg together.

  5. Combine the buttermilk and flour mixtures in a big bowl.

  6. Stir the dough together until it is too stiff to stir.

  7. Tun the dough out onto a lightly floured surface.

  8. Knead the dough for about 2-3 minutes; if the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour.

  9. Transfer the dough to a greased loaf pan.

  10. Score the top.

  11. Bake until golden brown and a cake tester comes out clean, about 45 minutes.
