Preheat your smoker to 180°F.
Remove membrane from ribs and trim fat.
Rub both sides of the ribs with BBQ rub.
Smoke for 3 hours bone side down.
Wrap with brown sugar, butter, and apple cider in foil.
Return to smoker at 225°F for 2 hours.
Remove foil, brush with BBQ sauce.
Smoke 1 more hour until sauce is set.
Rest for 10–15 minutes. Slice and serve.
