Holiday French Toast Casserole
  1. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.

  2. Cut the bread into 1-inch cubes and spread evenly in the prepared baking dish.

  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon and salt until well combined.

  4. Pour the mixture over the bread cubes and gently press down on the bread to ensure it absorbs the custard. Cover and place in the fridge for about 20 minutes or overnight.

  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F.

  6. Melt the butter in a small bowl in the microwave for 40 seconds and pour evenly over the top of the soaked bread.

  7. Place in the oven to bake for 45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the center is set. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.

  8. Sprinkle the top with fresh berries and dust with powdered sugar. Cut into squares and serve with maple syrup.
