Traditional Irish soda bread
  1. Lightly oil baking sheet. Preheat oven to 450° Fahrenheit.

  2. Sift together flour, baking soda, and salt. Leaving a depression in the middle of mixture.

  3. Pour most buttermilk into mixture, add remaining buttermilk if needed, but dough should not be wet.

  4. Mix dough with hands thoroughly.

  5. Transfer dough to lightly floured surface and kneed together. Once satisfied kneed into 8 inch loaf.

  6. Transfer to baking sheet and cut cross on top. Place on oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

  7. Serve warm.
