Take the pitted medjool dates and place them in a heat-safe dish. Add enough hot water to cover them and let them soak for 15 minutes.
Remove the water and add the softened dates to a blender, food processor, or use an immersion blender.
Add ½ cup of milk, ½ tsp of vanilla, and a pinch of sea salt.
Blend the ingredients until a smooth caramel-like consistency is achieved.
