Drop Biscuits And Sausage Gravy Skillet Casserole
  1. Preheat your oven to 450 degrees.

  2. In a skillet brown sausage, breaking into small pieces.

  3. Add butter, flour and seasonings. Mix until butter is melted and everything is well incorporated.

  4. Pour in 3 cups of milk and mix until it thickens creating a gravy. (If too thick, add remaining ½ cup of milk). Set aside.

  5. In a large bowl combine flour, baking powder and salt.

  6. Add the very cold butter into the flour and use your fingers to work it into the flour creating a coarse crumb, with some pea-sized pieces of butter remaining.

  7. Pour in 1.5 cups buttermilk and mix until dough comes together, adding the remaining ½ cup as needed.

  8. Drop biscuits on top of sausage gravy and bake in the oven for 20 minutes, or until tops of biscuits are golden brown.

  9. Brush melted butter over top, garnish with fresh herbs.
