How To Smoke A Thanksgiving Turkey
  1. Trim the turkey and pat it dry.

  2. Season the turkey all over with salt.

  3. Set up the smoker to maintain a temperature of around 225-250°F.

  4. Place the turkey in the smoker, breast-side up, and smoke for about 1.5 hours, spritzing with apple cider vinegar every 20-30 minutes.

  5. Once the breast reaches an internal temperature of 135°F, remove the turkey from the smoker.

  6. Spread about 2 pounds of room temperature butter all over the turkey, including inside the cavity.

  7. Wrap the turkey tightly in foil, placing it breast-side down.

  8. Return the wrapped turkey to the smoker and continue cooking at 285-300°F for about 1-1.5 hours, until the thighs reach 175°F.

  9. Remove the turkey from the smoker and let it rest for a few minutes.

  10. Unwrap the turkey and pour the melted butter from the foil pan over the top.

  11. Slice and serve the smoked turkey.
