Custard Powder
  1. To Make Custard Powder

  2. Place the milk powder, corn starch, vanilla sugar and yellow food colour powder (optional) into a food processor.

  3. Mix for 10 seconds on high speed to combine.

  4. If you don't have a food processor, simply sift the ingredients 3-4 times together into a bowl.

  5. Transfer the custard powder to an airtight container and store at room temperature.

  6. To Make Custard Using Custard Powder

  7. Place ½ cup of homemade custard powder into a saucepan, along with 2 ½ cups of milk and 2 tablespoons of sugar. Whisk to combine and then stir constantly over low heat until the custard has thickened.

  8. Pour over your favourite desserts and serve immediately.

  9. If you desire to add egg yolks for a more traditional custard. Make the custard as directed (custard powder + milk + sugar). In a separate bowl, lightly beat 2 egg yolks. Temper them: whisk in a little hot custard to warm them up, then slowly stir yolks back into the pan. Cook gently over low heat, stirring constantly, until slightly thicker (don’t let it boil, or the yolks may scramble).
