Cold Process Soap
  1. Put on safety gear.

  2. Measure 473 grams of lye (sodium hydroxide). Set aside.

  3. Measure 3 lb of distilled water in a heat-proof glass bowl.

  4. Measure your oils into your large stockpot (olive oil) and smaller pot (coconut and palm oils). Set aside.

  5. Carefully and slowly pour lye into distilled water and stir briskly with a rubber spatula until completely dissolved. Let the lye water cool to 80 degrees F.

  6. Mix all the oils, except the essential oils, together in a large pot and heat to 80 degrees F.

  7. Carefully add the lye water to oils.

  8. Blend the soap until trace forms.

  9. Add essential oil for scent, stirring briskly with your spatula until incorporated.

  10. Pour the soap into molds and cover them tightly with old blankets or towels.

  11. After 24 hours, remove the bars from the molds and let cure for 30 days.
