Dirty Grit Bowls
  1. In a pot, combine three cups of chicken broth and one cup of heavy whipping cream, then bring the mixture to a boil.

  2. Once boiling, stir in one cup of grit and allow it to cook for about 20 minutes.

  3. Prepare the smoked sausage to your preferred doneness.

  4. In the same pan, add ground beef or breakfast sausage along with a bit of flour to create a gravy.

  5. Mix everything together until well combined.

  6. As the grits thicken and near completion, incorporate a splash of heavy whipping cream, some butter, and black pepper.

  7. Stir in cheese and let it cook for an additional 15 minutes.

  8. If you like, add shrimp to the mixture since it cooks quickly.

  9. To serve, assemble each bowl with a scoop of grits and a scoop of the meat mixture.

  10. Store any leftover bowls in the fridge and reheat for about three minutes before serving.
