Sub Buns
  1. Combine milk, water, yeast and sugar. Let rest 10 minutes until bubbles and foam appear.

  2. Add salt, egg, butter, and flour to the yeast mixture and mix until a soft dough forms.

  3. Knead for 10 minutes until you have a soft, smooth dough.

  4. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.

  5. On a lightly floured surface, divide dough into 6 equal portions.

  6. Flatten each piece and roll into a log, tucking the seams.

  7. Place on a lined or greased baking sheet, an inch apart.

  8. Let rise for 30 minutes.

  9. Score the tops of each bun with a serrated knife (optional).

  10. Bake at 425°F for 10 minutes.

  11. Rotate and bake for an additional 7-9 minutes.

  12. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely before eating.

  13. Butter the tops of the buns immediately after they come out of the oven.
