In a bowl, add 4 cups of self rising flour. Make a bowl shape in the middle of the flour and pour in your milk.
Melt shortening in a skillet or cast iron. Don't get it too hot Pour the melted shortening into the dough mixture.
Mix well until combined. Add water if needed for desired consistency.
Use a spoon to scoop and drop the dough into a greased cast iron skillet. You can make them as large or thick as you want.
Top each biscuit with melted shortening. This keeps them from getting dry.
Cook in a preheated oven at 425° for 20 minutes. Broil until golden brown
