Preheat oven to 180degC
Soak half the dates in hot water and leave until needed.
In a small bowl, place the lemonade and the other half of the diced dates. Soak until soft or microwave for 1 minute. When soft, pour them into a mixing bowl and add the cream, then the sifted self-raising flour and mix with a baking scraper or fork. You can knead it lightly on the bench to finish it.
Flour the bench and roll out in rectangle 15mm thick.
Drain water from diced dates and spread soft dates over half of the rolled out mixture, fold the other half over and pat down and roll out lightly to approx 25mm-30mm thick. Cut into squares. Brush the tops with milk and sprinkle with raw sugar if you want.
Bake for 15-20 minutes until light brown
