Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8-inch round cake pan.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
In another bowl, mix sugars, oil, eggs, and vanilla until smooth. Add buttermilk and stir well.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
Stir in the hot coffee and fold in chocolate chips.
Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
Cool completely before slicing. Add your favorite chocolate glaze or serve as is
