Add 1 tsp activated dry yeast, 2 tsp sugar, and 1 tsp salt to a bowl
Add 1 ½ cups warm water (108-115°F) and stir for about 1 minute
Let sit for 5-10 minutes until yeast begins to grow
Add 3 cups flour and mix by folding inwards until majority of flour is incorporated
Cover bowl with Saran wrap and cloth, let rest for 1-2 hours
Remove covering and fold dough inwards again for about 1 minute to release air
Cover again with Saran wrap and cloth, let rest for 1 hour
Fold dough inwards again for 1 minute
Shape dough into a round ball on a floured cutting board
Place dough on parchment paper in bowl, sprinkle flour on top
Score the top of dough with a knife in a cross pattern
Cover with cloth and let proof while oven preheats
Preheat Dutch oven and oven to 450°F
Carefully place dough (with parchment paper) into hot Dutch oven
Cover with lid and bake for 35 minutes
Remove lid and parchment paper, bake uncovered for 5-10 minutes until golden and crispy
Remove from oven and let cool for at least 10 minutes before cutting
