Beat egg yolk till blended.
Gradually add ¼ cup sugar, beat until thick.
Stir in milk and vanilla and salt.
Chill thoroughly.
In a separate bowl, whip cream.
In another bowl, washing beaters in between uses beat egg whites until soft peaks form.
Add remaining sugar.
Beat till stiff peaks form.
Fold yolk mixture and whipped cream into egg whites.
Serve immediately.
