Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 4x8 inch loaf pan.
In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork.
Stir in the melted butter until well combined.
Add the baking soda, salt, sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract, mixing well.
Gradually add the flour and cocoa powder, stirring until just combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow the banana bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
