Prepare the pan: Grease the Bundt pan with shortening and sprinkle flour over it.
Combine ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the first seven ingredients; beat on low speed for 30 seconds, then on medium speed for two minutes. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Bake: Transfer the batter to the prepared Bundt pan and bake at 350ºF for 35 to 40 minutes. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing.
Make the frosting: Beat the cream cheese, butter, and vanilla until smooth, then gradually beat in confectioners’ sugar. Use a piping bag to frost the cake in thick stripes.
