  1. Combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar in a large bowl and let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.

  2. Add the flour and salt and stir until a shaggy dough forms.

  3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  5. Punch down the dough and divide into 2 equal pieces.

  6. Shape each piece into a loaf and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

  7. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.

  8. Preheat the oven to 400°F.

  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

  10. Remove from the oven and let cool before slicing.
