Cream butter and sugar for a few minutes.
Add eggs one at a time, ensuring each is incorporated.
Add 1 teaspoon of lemon extract.
Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
Combine flour, baking powder, and nutmeg.
Add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix.
Add milk and hand mix the rest of the dough.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface.
Form the dough into a disc.
Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 3 hours.
Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
Roll out the chilled dough.
Cut out tea cakes using a biscuit cutter.
Place tea cakes on a baking pan about an inch apart.
Bake for approximately 20 minutes at 325 degrees Fahrenheit, or 10-12 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Remove from oven when edges are browning.
Let cool on a cooling rack.
