Hot And Sour Soup – Better Than Takeout
  1. Whisk cornstarch with ¼ cup water and set aside.

  2. Heat canola oil in a large pot and sauté garlic and ginger until fragrant.

  3. Add mushrooms and cook until softened.

  4. Stir in chicken stock, bamboo shoots, soy sauce, vinegar, fish sauce, chili garlic sauce, and pepper.

  5. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 10 minutes. Add tofu.

  6. Stir in cornstarch mixture and cook until slightly thickened.

  7. Slowly add beaten egg while stirring to form ribbons.

  8. Remove from heat and stir in green onion and sesame oil.

  9. Fry wonton strips in hot oil until golden and crispy, then drain.

  10. Serve soup hot with crispy wonton strips.
