Preheat oven to 220°C (200°C fan/gas 7) & heat a baking tray.
Mix 525g self-raising flour, 1.5 tsp baking powder, 130g butter (rubbed in), & 4.5 tbsp sugar. You want to rub it together like a crumbing effect.
Warm 260ml milk, stir in 1.5 tsp vanilla & a squeeze of lemon.
Pour into dry mix, gently combine, then pat dough to 4cm thick.
Cut scones, place on the hot tray, brush with milk & bake 12-15 mins.
Cool slightly & serve with jam & clotted cream!
Once a dough has formed you can add any toppings.. I always go for white chocolate and raspberry 😋
