Rice Paper Flower Chips
  1. Cut the rice paper into circular pieces of two sizes, with diameters about 10 cm and 8 cm

  2. Cut 5 slits in each circle for petals, being careful not to cut all the way to the middle

  3. Mix turmeric into the cooked rice

  4. Place a tiny scoop of rice in the center of the larger rice paper circle

  5. Press the smaller rice paper circle into the center of the larger circle

  6. Place another drop of rice in the center of the smaller circle

  7. Add oil to a small frying pan or skillet, approximately 0.5 inch deep, and heat over medium heat

  8. Test if the oil is warm enough by dropping a small piece of rice paper into it; it should turn white and crispy in a few seconds

  9. Use a spatula or tongs to place the rice paper flower into the oil and let it puff for 3-5 seconds

  10. Lift the flower and place it upside down on a plate or paper towel to drain

  11. Repeat with remaining flowers

  12. Sprinkle salt over the flowers and a small amount of black pepper in the center of each blossom

  13. Serve on its own as chips or with your favorite dip
