Soak the chia seeds: Mix 2 tablespoons of chia seeds with 1 cup of water. Stir well and let it sit for at least 2-3 hours, or overnight. The chia seeds will form a gel-like consistency.
Add color (optional): Mix in a few drops of food coloring until evenly distributed.
Combine with cornstarch: Add ½ cup of cornstarch to the chia seed mixture, stirring well. Gradually add more cornstarch, up to 1 cup, until you get a stretchy but moldable consistency.
Knead until smooth: If the putty feels dry, add a bit of water. If too sticky, add more cornstarch.
Reactivating tip: If the putty dries out, add a teaspoon of water and knead to restore the texture.
Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for a few days, or in the fridge for up to 1-2 weeks for extended shelf life. Check for spoilage: If you notice any changes in smell, texture, or appearance, discard it.
