Preheat oven to 180C.
Combine flour, coconut and sugar. Add melted butter and egg, mixing well.
Place teaspoonfuls of mixture onto lightly greased baking trays, and if using, decorate each with either an almond or half a cherry.
Bake for approximately 10 minutes, or until golden. Cool on trays until firm enough to handle, then cool completely on a wire rack.
