Start by cutting your tofu into your desired shape, I did little slabs.
Then you want to press them, I use a towel with a cutting board and heavy pan on top since I don't own a tofu press. I do recommend cutting it first before pressing it since you get way more water out of it instead of pressing the whole block. Press for at least 10 minutes, I usually do 20-30 minutes.
Once the tofu is done pressing, add the oil to a pan and heat this. Then carefully add the tofu pieces. Fry these until golden brown (about 3 minutes on each side on medium heat). I flip my tofu pieces with 2 mini spoons instead of using a spatula since I usually end up splatering myself with oil otherwise haha (chopsticks work really well too!)
In the meantime mix all the ingredients for the sauce. The soy sauce I'm using is an Indonesian soy sauce which is a lot thicker then regular soy sauce (and its sweet!). It's called Kecap Manis but if you can't find it you can swap it with regular soy sauce with 1 tbsp of brown sugar added to it. It's definitely not the same but it works too!
Once the tofu is golden brown on both sides and nice and crispy, you can add the sauce. Turn your heat to low and cook the sauce with the tofu for about 2 more minutes so the sauce can thicken and the tofu can absorb the flavours.
