Scoop the dough by the tablespoonful and roll into balls. Place the balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Use a fork to gently press down on each ball, creating a criss-cross pattern.
Bake for 12-15 minutes, until lightly golden.
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
For an extra festive touch, you can half-dip the cooled cookies in melted chocolate and sprinkle with chopped nuts or sprinkles.
