Texas Chili
  1. Gather and prepare all ingredients.

  2. Heat a large pot over medium heat. Once hot, add the ground beef and season with salt and pepper. Cook the beef for 5 minutes, breaking it up as it cooks.

  3. Once browned, remove the ground beef using a slotted spoon, leaving the grease in the pot. Set it aside.

  4. Next, add the onions, jalapeño, and garlic, and cook for 5 minutes until softened, stirring occasionally.

  5. Add the tomato paste and cook for 4 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  6. Sprinkle in the chili powder, paprika, cumin, oregano, cocoa, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Cook for 1 minute.

  7. Add the beef and any drippings back to the pot. Add the chipotle peppers, diced tomatoes with juices, and beef broth. Bring to a simmer. Once the soup is at a simmer, continue cooking for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  8. Once the chili has thickened, garnish with your favorite toppings and enjoy.
