Heat oven to 325F
Grease and line a deep sided tin with greaseproof paper (2" deep and 12" x 10")
Sift flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder into large bowl and add sugar. Make a well in the centre.
Add syrup, eggs, oil, and milk all at once and carefully to begin (unless you want the mixture up the walls) beat well until it looks like a smooth runny mixture
Pour into tins and bake for around 1 to 1.5 hours till springy (time varies based on the size of the tin)
