Preheat oven to 350°F
In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugars until combined (about 1 minute — don't overmix)
Add the egg and vanilla, mix just until incorporated
Add flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix halfway, then fold in the chocolate chips
Mix gently until everything is combined — do not overmix
Roll dough into 1½–2 inch balls and refrigerate for 2 hours
Place on a baking sheet and bake for 13–15 minutes
Remove from oven and enjoy warm, or let cool
