Add all ingredients to a pan and cook lid on for 30-45 minutes on a low simmer. You are looking for the cabbage to be soft but with a little bite, mix a couple of times through cooking.
Add to a food bag (best once cooled- spread on a tray to speed up cooling) and freeze with all air removed and air tight.
Defrost 24hrs in advance in the fridge and reheat either microwave with a couple of small knobs of butter (my preferred method as oven will be full)- 5-6 minutes with clingfilm lid, stirring then an additional 2-3 minutes ensuring its piping hot.
Or add to the oven with a couple of knobs of butter, foil lid then braising in the oven at 180•c for around 30 minutes, again ensuring piping hot.
Mix well before serving.
