Homemade Vanilla Extract
  1. Cut whole vanilla beans down the center longways.

  2. Place the vanilla beans in your vessel of choice. Depending on the size of your jar, you may or may not need to cut the beans in half to fit.

  3. Cover the vanilla beans with alcohol.

  4. Allow the vanilla to infuse into the alcohol. Shake occasionally. You will know it’s ready when the extract no longer smells like alcohol. This usually takes about four months.

  5. If you plan to gift it before it’s fully ready, just add a tag for the date they can use it!

  6. You can continuously add more alcohol to the bottle as you use it.
