  1. Preheat oven to 350° Fahrenheit (176° Celsius).

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  3. In a medium mixing bowl, combine wet ingredients: vegetable oil, milk, vanilla extract, and egg.

  4. Add wet ingredients to dry and stir until just incorporated.

  5. Pour batter into 9" by 5" bread pan.

  6. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes.

  7. Insert a toothpick. If it comes away clean, the bread is done.

  8. Let cool in pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes, and then turn out bread onto wire rack to finish cooling.
