Sauce
Preheat oven to 375F. Grease a 2.5 L round-bottomed baking dish.
Combine flour, baking powder, ½ cup sugar, ¼ tsp cinnamon, salt and raisins in a large bowl. Stir with fork. Using a spoon, mix in milk and 1 tsp vanilla. Spoon into prepared dish.
To make sauce, stir ¾ cup sugar with spices. Add butter. Pour boiling water overtop. Stir until butter is melted. Stir in ½ tsp vanilla. Gently pour sauce over pudding. Do not stir.
Bake uncovered for 30-35 min or until cake springs back when touched in centre. To give sauce a chance to thicken, let stand for 10 min before serving.
