Bread Pudding

From The Settlement Cook Book, 1976 edition

  1. Beat the eggs, add milk, sugar, and gratings of nutmeg or cinnamon if desired;

  2. pour liquid over the bread [cake] in a pudding dish. [I use my mom’s old Pyrex 2 quart covered round baking dish], let stand until thoroughly soaked.

  3. Add raisins and almonds, if desired.

  4. Bake 20 minutes or until firm in a moderate oven, 350 F [it doesn’t say to preheat the oven but I always do].

  5. Serve with milk, jelly or any pudding sauce
