    Syrup

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F. Butter the bottom of the pan.

  2. Food process nuts + cinnamon till finely chopped (nothing bigger than a pea). Lay down 10 sheets of philo. Then sprinkle a layer of nuts. Then 4 philo, nuts, 4 philo, nuts, 4 philo, nuts. 10+ sheets of philo on top. With a sharp knife carefully cut.

  3. Pour melted skimmed butter over gently. (It looks like a lot!)

  4. Bake @ 325 for 32 mins. Then turn oven to 375 and keep in the oven.

  5. While baking make the syrup. Boil for 10-15 mins. Remove from heat. Remove lemon wedge. Add honey.

  6. When baklava is browned, gently pour syrup over. Let sit 2 hrs.

  7. Can refrigerate for 1 week or freeze for 1 month.
