Kentucky Butter Cake
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. Grease and flour a bundt pan.

  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and baking soda.

  4. In another large bowl, using an electric stand mixer, cream the butter and sugars for about 5 minutes.

  5. Mix in the eggs one at a time.

  6. Add the flour mixture to butter mixture, alternating with buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour mixture.

  7. Add vanilla.

  8. Pour batter into the prepared bundt pan and bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean, or with just a few moist crumbs.

  9. When you are ready to take the cake out of the oven, start making the butter sauce. B

  10. Add sugars, water, and butter to a small saucepan over low heat and bring to a low boil, stirring to dissolve the sugars. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.

  11. After the cake is removed from the oven, poke holes in it using a skewer and pour the butter mixture down into the holes.

  12. Let the cake cool for about 10 minutes and then remove it from the pan. Don't let it cool much longer in the pan, as it will stick to it.

  13. Serve topped with more butter sauce.
