Rinse the lentils in a fine mesh strainer for about a minute.
Add the rinsed lentils to the crockpot and cover with water by about an inch.
Cook the lentils on high for 3.5 to 4 hours.
After cooking, scoop out a few spoonfuls of the lentils with some of the cooking liquid to store, then strain the rest.
Store the lentils with a bit of the cooking liquid to prevent them from drying out.
