Jollibee-style Garlic Pepper Beef
  1. Marinate the beef

  2. Mix sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, cornstarch, and oil.

  3. Marinate for at least 10 minutes (up to 1 hour for deeper flavor).

  4. Prepare garlic flakes

  5. Heat a small pan over low heat with oil

  6. Add minced garlic and cook slowly, stirring frequently, until golden brown and crisp.

  7. Remove immediately and drain on paper towels.

  8. Cook the beef

  9. Heat a pan over medium-high heat with garlic oil, sear beef quickly (1–2 minutes) until just browned but still tender.

  10. Remove and keep warm.

  11. Build the creamy mushroom sauce

  12. In the same pan, heat garlic oil + butter. Sauté mushrooms until lightly browned.

  13. Add beef broth + heavy cream together and stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sugar.

  14. Season with black pepper and MSG at this stage.

  15. Simmer gently 3–5 minutes until sauce is creamy and slightly thickened.

  16. Combine & finish with garlic flakes

  17. Return beef to the pan, tossing to coat in the creamy mushroom pepper sauce.

  18. Stir in the garlic flakes at the end, just before serving, so they stay crunchy.

  19. Spoon over hot steamed or garlic fried rice.

  20. Top with extra garlic flakes and spring onions if desired
