Slow Cooker Chili (from HamBeens package)
  1. Rinse and sort through the dry beans. Check for any unwanted and discard.

  2. Cook ground beef and a sauté pan until brown. Drain off grease.

  3. Pour rinsed beans into slow cooker. Add cooked beef, onions, green pepper, garlic, and half the chili seasoning that was included in the beans bag. DO NOT ADD TOMATO INGREDIENTS YET!

  4. Add 7 cups of water or stock and put lid on slow cooker.

  5. Cook on high for 4 to 5 hours, or low for 8 to 9 hours.

  6. When beans are tender, add can of tomatoes (undrained), tomato paste, and remainder of chili seasoning.

  7. Cook on low for an additional 30 to 60 minutes.

  8. Keep at warm setting until ready to serve. Chili will continue to thicken and become richer in flavor with additional time. NOTE: try not to remove lid during cooking, as that will add additional time.
