Cozy Mulled Wine (NY Times)
  1. Slice the oranges.

  2. Combine red wine, brandy, and brown sugar in a large pot.

  3. Add cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, and cardamom pods.

  4. Add orange slices to the pot.

  5. Heat gently over medium heat until warm, stirring occasionally. Do not boil.

  6. Add orange liqueur if desired. (See photo of packet below.)

  7. Serve hot in mugs.
