Preheat oven to 350 F. Great a 9 x 13 and 10 x 15 glass cake pan.
Wash and cut strawberries into slices. Macerate with sugar, lemon juice and zest, and salt (at least 2 hours).
In a large bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, cinnamon, salt, and baking powder.
Add in the buttermilk, vanilla, almond extract, and melted butter, then mix well. It's okay to have a few lumps, you don't want to over-stir.
Pour batter into greased pans and spread evenly (fairly think layer, the cake is a cross between a cake and a biscuit). Bake until golden on top and a toothpick comes out clean (25-35 minutes for a 9x13 pan or cupcakes).
Whip cream with icing sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
Serve with fresh whipped cream and berries and juice.
